The coming of age

Posted on Sat 06/27/09 in Personal

Last saturday I reluctantly admitted I got older, again. The countdown to the big 30 has begun. In this post, I’ll look back to what the 28-29 period has given me. Rest assured, the post shall be quite short (that’s not good, huh?)

Ah, a year ago.. what was going on back then? I was close to passing my 3-month trial at my new employer. I had decided to go the .NET route a few months earlier and ended up being stuck in a VBscript project around May 2008. I was told I wouldn’t have to work on it for more than two months. Little did I know I would have to work in that mess for 7 more months.

So, work wasn’t that great back then. But it improved later that year when I got my first .NET certificate, and a possible new project somewhere in December. At this moment, that project is near its end and I must say it improved my joy at work :-)

A year ago, my friend was house hunting a lot, while I was just waiting for the future, since I would never be able to afford a house on my own. I think it was somewhere around November when he showed me a pamphlet of some to-be-built houses. I said “I want me one of those”, and in about three weeks, I’ll move into it. I must say that was the best happening in chapter 28 of my life.

So, work and living conditions.. is that all I can think of when looking back over the last year? Hmm, quite so.. I didn’t find new hobbies, didn’t really do anything out of the ordinary and I’m still single. I did try going on one of those speed dates, but I must say it was quite disappointing. Or maybe I just don’t care enough. Let’s look back at that in a year and see if I changed my mind :-)
